Canadian Ambassador, Patrick Binns, and H.E.R.O.S. Founder, Norm Flynn, Launch Irish H.E.R.O.S. Organization.

Tyrell CCT has announced that the company is the main sponsor of the new Irish H.E.R.O.S. (Hockey Education Reaching out Society) initiative. The Hockey Education Reaching out Society is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering children through ice hockey. The premise of H.E.R.O.S. is to use the game of hockey as a catalyst to attract youth to a program offering support for education, self-esteem building and life skills training. The program focuses on boys and girls of diverse ethnicity from economically challenged neighborhoods.

H.E.R.O.S. was established in Vancouver, Canada in 2000 by Norm Flynn, a former WHL hockey player. The Irish H.E.R.O.S project was officially launched on Saturday, August 22nd at the Canadian Embassy in Dublin. Stephen Gamble, (from Tyrell CCT's technical department) and Dr. Pete Ting have responsibility for the Irish operation, which is based on the Canadian model and closely linked to their headquarters. At the recent launch event, H.E.R.O.S founder and executive director, Norm Flynn, presented them with 32 full equipment sets and 32 pairs of ice skates, funded by Tyrell CCT. Ice hockey activities will take place at the Charlestown ice rink every Sunday morning, helping children from Finglas and other inner-city areas to build essential life skills. More info on H.E.R.O.S.
