Tyrell CCT, a leading creative technology solutions provider for the broadcast and post production industry, today announced that the company has provided BBC Vision, a major integrated multimedia broadcast and production group, with an integrated file based user generated content solution for Autumnwatch, the BBC's highly successful wildlife series. Tyrell CCT is using Anystream's Agility encoding solution to provide the BBC with a collaborative workflow process that ensures the quick and easy broadcast of home-produced wildlife footage submitted by the general public for this hugely popular slot on the Autumnwatch show and website. Autumnwatch returned to BBC 2 on Friday October 2, 2009 for a celebration of UK wildlife, with a one hour show broadcast every Friday night for the eight week run.

The workflow process, designed by Tyrell CCT, involves the submission of user generated content via the Autumnwatch website to the production team in the BBC's Television Centre in Bristol. Anystream's Agility Encoder is used for transcoding the content into Avid IMX30/MXF wrapped format, enabling close integration and true collaboration with the post-production workflow. The encoded output is then delivered by Anystream Agility to the Avid Unity shared storage system where the Autumnwatch editing team can easily incorporate the material into the edit sequences. Anystream Agility automates and streamlines the production of the highest quality video for multiplatform delivery. Designed to scale for volume and efficiency, Anystream enables companies to rapidly repurpose content for the Web, VOD, mobile, IPTV and other emerging outlets. Tyrell CCT also provided BBC Vision with consultancy services and onsite support for this cost effective and efficient workflow solution.

"We are very excited with the new format for Autumnwatch, as it enables us to develop the show and in particular facilitate the growing demand for viewer interaction that we are experiencing," commented Tim Scoones, Executive Producer, Autumnwatch. "Tyrell CCT designed the viewer content workflows for our Springwatch show and so we were confident that the company could deliver on the advanced technology required for Autumnwatch. Anystream Agility allows us to easily overcome the technological challenges associated with user generated content, enabling us to take full advantage of the amazing contributions from our viewers."

"This project demonstrates the rapid growth of user generated video content and the need for broadcasters and media companies to quickly and easily automate the management and delivery process so that they can capitalize on this exploding phenomenon," commented Nick Soper, Pre Sales & Technical Director, Tyrell CCT, UK. "Tyrell CCT has built upon our previous work with BBC Springwatch and our vast experience in workflow design to provide the Autumnwatch show with a cost-effective, secure and automated delivery process for the public content with minimal requirement for additional resources."

Tyrell CCT is the leading representative of major global brands for the creation, manipulation, distribution and management of digital content. The company has unrivalled experience in creative technology project specification, management and implementation for major broadcasters and post production companies in Ireland and the UK.
